Ned Matheson
Denver, Colorado
GROOMSMAN
Now, moving on to Joe’s Denver crew—enter Ned Matheson, one of Joe’s longest-standing friends since making the move to the Mile High City. Their friendship began about 13 years ago when Joe absolutely dominated Ned in a volleyball game (Joe’s words, probably not Ned’s). Despite the crushing defeat, Ned decided Joe was still worth knowing and, a few weeks later, mentioned he was opening a new gym in downtown Denver.
Joe, always up for a new challenge, figured he’d give this “High-Intensity Workout Fad” a shot. Little did he know, he wasn’t just signing up for burpees and deadlifts—he was signing onto a long lasting friendship. Fast forward to today, and not only is Joe still a dedicated gym member, but he’s also met most of his Denver friends through it—proving that fitness really does change lives (or at least this Denver social circle.)

Beyond the gym, Joe and Ned became roommates for over 3.5 years, racking up an impressive résumé of questionable decisions, legendary nights out, and a few stories best left off the wedding mic. When they’re not reminiscing about their wilder days, you can find them shredding the slopes (when Ned is not bailing), conquering Colorado’s mountain biking trails, or pretending they enjoy eating kale.
Ned has been a true influence in Joe’s life—helping him stay fit, focused, and maybe just a little bit healthier. His loyalty, friendship, and ability to make working out seem like a good idea are just a few of the reasons why he’s standing beside Joe on the big day.
