Mark and Joe’s friendship began 25 years ago on your typical crazy holiday weekend at the Lake of the Ozarks, where little did they know they were about to embark on decades of shenanigans. From that fateful meeting, they quickly became friends, tearing up the Kansas City scene with a legendary lineup of concerts, bars, and questionable life choices.
Even when Joe packed up and moved to Denver in 2007, their bond never wavered. Mark makes his annual pilgrimage to Colorado, where he and Joe continue their traditions—attending epic shows at Red Rocks and, on occasion, attempting to convince Mark that physical activity is fun (spoiler: it’s a hard sell). Snowboarding, mountain biking, and hiking have all been enthusiastically suggested…and tried once and then politely declined.

Through it all, their friendship has only grown stronger, with Mark’s calming and responsible presence (yes, really) playing a key role. Mark’s loving marriage to his beautiful wife Jen has helped Joe understand what it takes to make his relationship with Sarah work so well. It’s one of the many reasons he’s been entrusted with the all-important title of Best Man—because every groom needs a best friend to keep things in check… or at least provide the alibi.
